How To Fix Windows Installer Error 1639

While you are trying to install a program, you may receive the Window Installer error 1639 similar to the following message:

Error 1639. Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detailed command line help.

If you want to fix the error, just follow these steps below:

  1. Click the "Start" menu, and then click the "Run".
  2. Type "cmd" in the search box, and then press Enter.
  3. At the command prompt, type "msiexec /unregister", and then press Enter.
  4. Type "msiexec /regserver" and then press Enter.
  5. Type "exit", and then press Enter to quit the command prompt.
  6. Click the "Start" menu again.
  7. Type "services.msc" in the search box.
  8. Find and right-click the "Windows Installer", and then click the "Properties".
  9. In the "Startup type", select the "Automatic", and then click "Apply" and "OK".
  10. Reboot the computer and reinstall the program that you want.
